Jose Mourinho could secure the services of Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez for just €50m (£42.5m) this summer, according to reports.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague recently confirmed that Manchester United were leading the race to sign the ostracised Columbian.
Rodriguez notably waved to the Bernabeu crowd as he came off during Madrid’s 4-1 win over Sevilla on Sunday – their last home game of the season.
And according to AS Spain, Rodriguez’s value will drop down to €50m following a season of relative anonymity for the 25-year-old.
Rodriguez certainly thought about leaving Madrid prior to the January transfer window: the Columbian said, very openly, not long after his side claimed the FIFA World Club Cup, that he would consider his options over the next week. Zinedine Zidane reportedly had a private discussion with the frustrated 25-year-old and convinced him to stay. Clearly there were still some doubts over leaving the fortress of the Bernabeu swirling in his head.
This time around, however, as he waved a heartfelt – yet very much dejected – goodbye to the Madrid faithful, you sensed there was do doubt this time around. A move away from Madrid looks imminent, with Mourinho currently leading the pack in pursuit of his signature.
