Manchester United are leading the race for AS Monaco’s Bernardo Silva ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports.
Reports have suggested that Mourinho, or any manager keen on signing Silva, would have to fork out a minimum of £70m over the summer to secure his signature.
It was recently reported that the 54-year-old had listed the Portuguese midfielder, who has made 56 appearances this season, as his main priority ahead of the transfer window.
And according t0 Le Figaro, Man United are leading the race to sign Silva over the summer.
Monaco have defied all expectations this season. Watching them over the past nine months has been nothing short of fascinating, and as Leonardo Jardim’s men cruised to the title – a goal finally reached with a 2-0 win over Saint Etienne on Wednesday – one thing became abundantly clear: if you want to stop them, you have to stop Silva first.
Easier said than done. Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur – two sides used to dominating opponents this season – found out the hard way as his relatively unknown 22-year-old ripped through their back four with reckless abandon, scoring a memorable thunderbolt at Wembley in the process.
Mourinho will be keen to see the Portuguese inflict further damage on his top six rivals next season.
