It was recently reported that the Belgian, following an unsuccessful loan spell at Sunderland during which he managed just one goal, would be told he has to leave this summer.
And according to Press and Journal, Brendan Rodgers will pursue the winger over the summer.
I’ve always thought that moving to Celtic was tantamount with an overwhelming lack of ambition in any player. I mean, Rodgers, of all people, managed to guide them through an entire season without losing a single game.
Then again, perhaps this is exactly what Januzaj needs. The youngster’s confidence has been shot to pieces over the last three years following a period of exclusion under Louis van Gaal – followed up by nine months of misery under David Moyes at Sunderland.
Maybe a season or two scoring for run against significantly weaker sides would help Januzaj rediscover the feeling of having an influence over games, of feeling the ball rocket into the net off his boot. These may seem like trivial things, but they can be everything for players lacking confidence.
