Manchester United to meet Inter Milan to finalise Ivan Perisic deal next week – report

Manchester United will meet with Inter Milan next week for showdown talk over the fee of Ivan Perisic, according to reports from Italy.

The 29-year-old winger, who claimed 11 goals and 10 assists for the Nerazzurri last season, has agreed personal terms with Man United and is already preparing for life at Old Trafford.

However, the deal has been held up by Inter demanding a figure of around €55m – way more than the initial sum put forward by Jose Mourinho.

And according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, talks will be held next week to help push the deal over the line.

Inter will, of course, look to squeeze every penny they can out of this deal. But make no mistake: this transfer needs to go ahead, and fast. The Serie A side, as part of Financial Fair Play regulations, need to club together £26m to balance the books by June 30 before they can even realistically think about their own transfer policy for this summer.

There are, of course, a number of financial complications surrounding the move that ought to be resolved and moved aside next week when more formal contact is made.

Ed Woodward may be in charge of the world’s most valuable football club, but he wouldn’t be doing his job properly if he didn’t negotiate in a way that served the club’s interests, as opposed to simply chucking the required sum in every direction (which is, I admit, exactly what I would probably do as a fan with little economic foresight).
