Manchester United have signed former Paris St Germain’s midfield prodigy Aliou Badara Traore.
We brought you reports earlier this week about Man United’s pursuit of Traore, 16, and he has now put pen to paper on what will initially be a one-year scholarship deal that will be followed by a three year contract when he turns 17.
That means Traore is the second teenage midfielder to be signed by United this week after Northern Ireland’s Ethan Galbraith also confirmed he would be joining the club too.
What is there to know about Traore? Well, there’s a video at the top which will show you him in action but the former PSG midfielder spent some time on trial at United in February which is where his move developed from.
Angel Gomes’ progression into the first-team this year, aged just 16 and our youngest ever debutante since Duncan Edwards, will give hope to Traore and Galbraith that age is irrelevant at United. If you’re old enough, you’re good enough and that still rings true today.
We’ll see Traore in action with United’s U18s next season under Kieran McKenna’s management and hopefully he can follow in the footsteps of players like Timothy Fosu-Mensah who joined from Europe as a 16-year-old and forced his way quickly into the first-team.
