From Spain: Manchester United ‘hours’ away from completing Alvaro Morata transfer

Manchester United are on the verge of finalising a deal to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid’s mouthpiece newspaper Marca reports that Man United have had a €75m bid rejected by Los Blancos but with only €5m between United’s current offer and Madrid’s desired €80m.

Marca journalist Jose Felix Diaz, who has been at the forefront of the Morata story from the perspective of the Spanish press throughout the saga, says the deal is now literally on the cusp of being completed.

For United fans, there will be trepidation at hearing yet more cries that the deal is imminent but this is it ladies and gentleman. This is the final hurdle with Morata. This is what we’ve been waiting weeks for.

With Arsenal announcing Alexandre Lacazette, teams around us are beginning to strengthen and Morata has been Jose Mourinho’s prime striker target for some time now. We may have had to wait but all good things come to those who wait and for United fans, that good thing is Alvaro Morata.

Now, all of this falls in line with reports at the start of the week that Morata was going to be completed before the squad flies out on tour on Sunday. Sometimes speculation can drive you insane but everything so far this will is positive and it looks like Morata to United being done before Sunday is more than a distinct possibility.
