Manchester United have stepped up discussions over the signing of James Rodriguez this summer, according to the Independent
Although Man United weren’t able to come to a deal with Real Madrid over their refusal to budge from their €90m asking price for Alvaro Morata in recent times, they have once again targeted the Colombian star.
Jose Mourinho had allegedly told executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to move on from the striker and it seems like he needs a potential replacement for Wayne Rooney, with the Englishman, set to join Everton over the weekend.
While Mourinho was reserved about signing Rodriguez, there is a definite role for him in the attack at Old Trafford, his marketability and commercial appeal would also appeal to Woodward.
He’s been linked with a transfer in the past, but with Madrid hoping to sell Morata and James this summer to clear up funds for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, there’s no better time to buy even if Madrid are playing hardball.
After Morata deal collapsed it remains to be seen how the deal between both clubs will turn out, but talks are definitely ongoing over a possible deal.
