Jose Mourinho will be allocated a budget of £100m to secure three more signings ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, according to reports.
The Portuguese has already brought in defender Victor Lindelof for £30.1m and Romelu Lukaku for £75m this summer, going through over half of his reported £200m budget.
He is still determined to bring in Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic, which should be completed by next week, as well as a defensive midfielder, with Nemanja Matic, Eric Dier and Radja Nainggolan serving as potential options.
And according to the Metro, Mourinho will be given £100m to secure three more players before the window shuts.
Given that Ivan Perisic will most likely cost United around £45m (Inter have adamantly refused to budge on their valuation since day one), you sense that the Portuguese, somewhat amazingly, may need even more funds than that. The transfer market has two separate market values for English teams and the rest, it seems.
Prizing either Matic or Dier away from their respective clubs would take a gargantuan offer, and even that may not be enough. Roma will only sell Nainggolan if Mourinho launches an astronomical bid.
Combine those factors with the funds needed for another defender, with Chris Smalling set to be on his way out, and the bill at the end is somewhat startling.
