Jose Mourinho has confirmed he’ll be playing Romelu Lukaku up front with Marcus Rashford during the pre-season.
Manchester United won their opening game of the pre-seaosn tour against LA Galaxy in a dominating 5-2 display, with Marcus Rashford finding two goals to start of the new season the right way.
The Englishman has returned in great form and has proven he has what it takes to play alongside Lukaku next season, rather than on the wing to accommodate the Belgian’s arrival at Old Trafford.
Speaking about his options, here’s what Mourinho had to say after the La Galaxy victory.
“Was good game, no injuries. Everyone played 45 mins and most importantly everyone completed & felt the system,” he said.
“Last season we played three at the back two times but maybe we shall do that more times this season.
“Natural evolution of a kid. Rashford’s body changes. He’s already 3 cms taller than when I arrived 13 months ago.
“During the pre season, we’ll try Lukaku & Rashford together.”
Mourinho has plenty of options and will be looking to find his best team during the pre-season, which is why he’s hoping to try different tactics and discover the best system ahead of the new season.
