Manchester United’s Ander Herrera claims there is no truth in reports linking himself with a move to Barcelona this summer.
He had been heavily associated with a move to Barcelona as they had identified Herrera as a player to reinforce their midfield.
However, Herrera has finally reached his true potential at Old Trafford, cementing his place in the first-team and earning his first cap for the Spanish squad in the process.
Speaking about the squad, Herrera claims he never had any intention of leaving United.
“There’s no truth to Barcelona because I’m very happy at United. I also feel valued by United and I’m focused on them,” he said.
“Real Madrid in the European Super Cup? are the strongest team right now, they’ve won the last two Champions Leagues, but a Super Cup Final always motivates you.
“I’ll be just as motivated. Of course, playing against Madrid is a good test for us.
“Getting back into the Champions League was crucial for the club, we’ll be one of the teams to beat. We’re a strong team with a winning Coach.
“Morata? Of course, I began to see Morata as a teammate, it was very close because the two clubs were in talks.
“Too bad he’s not with us, but I wish him well.”
He’s been an indispensable member of the squad and has even been backed to receive a new contract as a result of his impressive performances.
It’s clear he’s committed to his future at United and I’m glad he’s finally receiving the recognition he deserves.
