Zlatan Ibrahimovic will reject a €7.5m per season offer to join LA Galaxy because he wants to complete a return to Manchester United, according to reports from Calcio Mercato.
Jose Mourinho has confirmed his intention to sanction a short-term contract offer for Ibrahimovic after he’s returned from injury in January but with other clubs interested in the Swedish striker, Man United are not the only possible destination for Zlatan once he’s fit again.
But reports are suggesting Ibrahimovic’s desire to return for United is just as strong as Mourinho’s to bring him back when he can. It’s a mutual feeling and one I am not altogether surprised by at all.
Ibrahimovic will consider his United career as one which has unfinished business. He may have won the Europa League and League Cup but that’s not the Premier League, that’s the title he wanted. There have only ever been two seasons in his entire career where he’s not won the domestic title and he’ll want to rectify that by coming back to United after his cruciate ligament injury if he can.
Nobody expected Zlatan to have quite the impact he did but he blew expectations out of the water yet this is his greatest challenge yet. If Zlatan can overcome this injury which was widely considered bad enough to end his career and get back to his goalscoring ways from January onwards, he could prove to be one of the most impactful January arrivals United have ever had.
