Marco Verratti has officially confirmed Mino Raiola as his new agent via his Instagram account.
The Paris St Germain midfielder replaced his former agent Donatelo Di Campli after becoming unhappy with his management and for Manchester United fans, it’s safe to say there is a fair few who are rubbing their hands together.
Raiola is Mr Man United. He is of course the agent of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sergio Romero. He has been responsible for our two biggest transfers under Jose Mourinho and has had plenty of dealings with us in the past, so United are very much in bed with Mino.
Does Raiola becoming Verratti’s agent mean he is joining United? Well, no, definitely not but it certainly makes it a more distinct possibility with Raiola at the negotiations table than without. Barcelona have been sniffing around Verratti all summer and how that unfolded is partly why the 24-year-old replaced Di Campi but persuading PSG to sell him is going to be one hell of a task.
But Mourinho needs a new central midfielder this summer and for me, Raiola becoming Verratti’s agent has opened up the door to negotiate for one of Europe’s elite midfielders. Get your phone out Mr. Woodward, brush up on your French too.
