Javier Hernandez set to join West Ham United for £16m – report

Former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is set for a £16m move to West Ham United – Jose Mourinho’s first opponent in the Premier League next season.

The Mexican international joined Man United back in 2010 and immediately established himself as a fans’ favourite with his deadly poacher instinct inside the box.

He was criminally sold for just £7.3m to Bayer Leverkusen and claimed 26 goals in his opening campaign as United woefully struggled for goals under Louis van Gaal.

And he will make his first appearance in the Premier League since August 2015 at Old Trafford as West Ham open their Premier League campaign against Man United on August 13.

Van Gaal woefully mistreated Chicharito and it was only fair to see him sacked following a season hallmarked by a marked ineptitude in front of goal as the 29-year-old concurrently scored for fun in the Bundesliga.

But will he haunt United once again? The prospect of seeing him return to Old Trafford is simultaneously frightening and tantalising – not many players adjusted to the pattern of life in Manchester better than the Little Pea, and he will return to the Theatre of Dreams with a point to prove following such an ignominious – and unjust – end to his last spell in England.
