Jose Mourinho believes Victor Lindelof needs more time to adapt at Manchester United following his arrival from Benfica this summer.
The Swede has been hit and miss during United’s pre-season games and even conceded a penalty in the first clash with Real Madrid as he clattered into Theo Hernandez with a very clumsy tackle.
He’s the clear partner for Eric Bailly in the centre of defence at Old Trafford, however, at the age of 23, it’s clear that there’s more improvement to come.
It’s ridiculous to make any sort of a judgement on his performances so far, but Mourinho believes he needs more time as he adapts from a different league.
Mourinho, "Lindelof came from a big club but a completely different level in terms of responsibility. I'd prefer to give him more time."

Lindelof has a big role to play at Old Trafford this season and he just hasn’t been helped by Mourinho trying out new defensive formations, as he looks for some sort of stability in his role.
He has great potential and will be hoping to progress like the player he has been most compared to, Vidic, rather than following after Smalling or Jones and falling further down the pecking order after being backed to succeed.
