From Spain: David de Gea has ruled out moving to Real Madrid

David de Gea has made it explicitly clear to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he has no intentions of joining Real Madrid, according to reports from Spain.

The Spaniard was on the verge of a move to the Bernabeu back in August 2015 but the move fell through during the dying seconds of the transfer window following a series of documentation issues, which remains hilarious to this day.

Madrid have expressed interest in the keeper in patches ever since, reportedly planning to activate his release clause this summer.

However, according to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, De Gea will not seek a move to the European champions this summer, leaving Zinedine Zidane with no choice but to use Keylor Navas as his number one.

De Gea has never looked like leaving this summer and United have been relaxed over the 26-year-old, convinced that the trophy haul of last season and allure of Champions League football this time around would be enough to keep him at Old Trafford.

Madrid dominated United for large parts of the UEFA Super Cup in Skopje but one chink in their armour was the man between the sticks. It didn’t stop them from completing a double last season, mind, but Mourinho will know the value of having an imperious last line of defence as his side battles on four fronts this season.
