There are lots of great strike forces in the Premier League and Romelu Lukaku along with Marcus Rashford is quickly becoming one of the most feared. They’re are my BetVictor bet recommendation to be the leading goalscoring partnership at the end of the season.
It is still in its infancy but so far it looks like a match made in heaven. Spurs fans will argue that Harry Kane and Dele Ali are the best and the stats from last season point to that. Diego Costa and Eden Hazard were a standout duo last campaign but that has now ended in divorce. In any list, you have to (unfortunately) include David Silva and Sergio Aguero but that has been on the decline over the last couple of seasons.
There is no doubting that Lukaku is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and his record backs that up. On his own though, he can look a bit isolated at times so maybe there is a chance we could see him play up top with Rashford in a partnership? If so, Rashford is the ideal candidate as he offers a completely different threat and would make it very difficult for defences to cope with two different styles of players. Rashford has moved onto another level this campaign and he’s still only 19. We all love our kid already.
As for Lukaku, he has hit the ground running at his new club and is quickly becoming a fan favourite. In some ways, he is a similar player to Ruud van Nistelrooy who became a legend at the club during Sir Alex Ferguson reign and with five goals in his first five Premier League starts, Lukaku has matched how prolific Ruud was at the beginning. The legendary Holland international managed to find the back of the net 160 times in only 219 games for the club and the way Lukaku has started bodes well for sure.
Lukaku seems to have played in the Premier League forever, yet the Belgium striker is still only 24 years old. He has managed five goals in the league already and is once again on track to compete for the golden boot. It has been a great battle over the last couple of season between him and Harry Kane and will be interesting to see if the move to Old Trafford helps him finally overtake the Spurs forward. Last season he managed to score 26 goals in the league for Everton and he will be hoping he can get past the goal 30 mark this campaign.
Once Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns from injury it will be interesting to see if he can break up the Lukaku/Rashford partnership. If they continue in the same vein it is hard to see Mourinho choosing to replace with Ibrahimovic. The season is long though and injuries do happen so having him as a backup is a dream come true.
After the fantastic start to the season, United are the early bookies favourites to win the Premier League alongside city. Both teams have large squads of world-class talent capable of winning any competition they enter, so the league title could well be on its way to Manchester this year.
