Jose Mourinho has addressed Romelu Lukaku’s goal scoring record at Manchester United this season, claiming his freedom in the squad allows the Belgian to get into finishing areas.
The Belgian has been in spectacular form since his move to Old Trafford this summer and it’s brilliant to see him continue his record with seven goals in seven Premier League games and 11 goals in 10 games across all competitions.
There were initally doubts over Lukaku following his £75million summer move but he’s done incredibly well to settle in instantly and prove he has what it takes to lead the side forward.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho talked about Lukaku’s record at Old Trafford.
“We always expect a striker to score more than the others,” he said.
“They have a lot of freedom to play they can always be in finishing areas, in fact I want them to be, If they score goals it’s a natural consequence of the way we play.”
Hopes are he can continue his scoring run as he’s shown exactly why Mourinho bought him, turning our 1-1 draws from last season into comfortable 4-0 victories.
