Jose Mourinho has been nominated for the Barclays Premier League ‘Manager of the Month’ award for September after picking up 10 points from 12 over the last month.
Manchester United have continued to banish the demons of last season by claiming emphatic wins over Everton and Crystal Palace alongside grinding out a 1-0 win at Southampton.
The only black mark on their record comes in the form of a 2-2 draw with Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium at the start of the month.
And Mourinho, who lost to Huddersfield’s David Wagner last month, has been nominated alongside Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino and Arsene Wenger for this month’s award.

Of course, this award deserves to be in the hands of Guardiola, who has seen his side claim 17 goals in four matches, including a 5-0 hammering of Liverpool and a 1-0 win away at Chelsea, whilst also conceding precisely no goals.
In other words, Pep has set Mourinho a challenge. Only one goal separates the two teams in the table but the consensus at this point clearly sees Man City as the more dangerous unit.
And the upcoming month, featuring clashes with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, presents the 54-year-old with an opportunity to turn the tide.
