Manchester United’s U21s England star Dean Henderson faces an uncertain future with the club as his contract expires in the summer.
Henderson is currently out on loan at Shrewsbury and is apparently highly sought after according to The Sun.
The English tabloid has claimed that both Benfica and Arsenal are chasing after the youngster’s signature much to United’s horror.
The Portuguese club however, are more likely to beat the Gunners to Dean due to their ability to sign foreign players for free from January.
With just three months to go, there are growing concerns that Henderson will opt out of Old Trafford in favour of more game time.
Dean may be forced into reconsidering his future career more realistically unless manager Jose Mourinho can convince him to stay.
Should De Gea finally secure his dream move to Real Madrid in the future, there is a possibility that Henderson may yet have a future at Old Trafford.
However, he will have to fight hard for that opportunity as Pereira has already been touted to be the best Portuguese goalkeeper of his generation by Mourinho.
If Dean’s contract isn’t extended in the end by Jose, United will surely hope the youngster will pick Benfica over direct rivals Arsenal.
The Gunners have reportedly targeted the goalkeeping department as the area that needs improvement so Henderson may be tempted by the opportunity.
For now though, the Red Devils remain in safe hands with one of the world’s best goalkeepers currently at the club.
