Rio Ferdinand: Marcus Rashford is in the right environment at Manchester United

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand is as much of a fan of Marcus Rashford as any other Red Devil supporter but believes his environment is right for him to succeed in.

Ferdinand has been adjusting to his new life as a pundit and surely watches plenty of United’s games with Rashford being heavily involved in most of them.

The young Englishman has been in fine form for club and country as he continues his monumental rise as a footballer.

Since starting for Manchester United on that fateful day in the Europa League, Marcus has gone from unknown talent to Old Trafford favourite in a matter of months.

Rio in particular believes the pacy striker can get even better, with his surroundings there to support him as he works hard to turn potential into ability.

According to the Daily Mirror, Ferdinand said: “He’s somebody who can be a huge talent for United and England — and he’s at the right place to do that.

“He’s got the backing of the manager, the backing of the fans and the confidence of the players, and the more I see him, the more he’s bringing new things to his game and adding to it.”

Rashford’s ability is tough to ignore and he’s taken his status as a Manchester United starter in his stride.

However, he’s also recognised that he can take nothing for granted as he continues to battle with Anthony Martial for their manager’s approval.

Jose Mourinho has pitted the pair of wonder-kids against each other in order to bring out the best of the two and so far his plan is working out superbly.

Both players have been in incredible form this season and are benefitting from the competition for a first team berth.

Rashford himself has welcomed the friendly rivalry with a maturity beyond his years which will surely please his manager.

United have a pair of gems in their hands and if Mourinho can juggle them both correctly, then their futures and Manchester United’s will surely be bright.
