Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah has an opportunity to add to his international caps record after being called up for international duty.
The Dutchman has been loaned out to Crystal Palace for the season by Jose Mourinho to earn some Premier League experience.
Timothy is highly rated by the Portuguese manager and after his fine form for the London club this season, may have played himself into the first team squad for the next season.
Capable of playing as a central defender, a full-back, a defensive midfielder or a central midfielder, Fosu-Mensah’s versatility may aide him in his bid for first team action.
The Netherlands lost Kenny Tete to injury and so the United loanee is promoted once more from the U21’s team.
With Crystal Palace battling with relegation this season, the 19 year old will have to continue putting in fine performances to save his temporary team.
Mourinho will be pleased with the game time his player has received so far but perhaps he’d be ruing his decision to loan out the young star.
With injuries sustained to Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba at different times during the season, Timothy may have offered a good alternative and made up for the lack of numbers in midfield.
Although he has typically featured in the right back spot for the Red Devils, Antonio Valencia has that position nailed down so it’s more likely that Fosu-Mensah would’ve seen a fair share of minutes in central midfield.
United fans will surely hope their flying Dutchman can return to them next season ready to have a real go for first team action.
