Real Madrid striker and Manchester United target Marco Asensio would be open to listening to offers from other clubs if he is dropped for Gareth Bale this season, according to reports.
The Spaniard, who broke into Zinedine Zidane’s side last season, has impressed in Bale’s absence, claiming seven goals in all competitions – including an absolute rocket against Las Palmas.
And it has been reported that Man United, along with Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain, had made an advance for the striker over the summer.
According to Spanish media outlet Diaro Gol, the 21-year-old will entertain offers from other clubs if Zidane decides to restore Bale, who looks set to recover in time to face Atletico Madrid next weekend, to the starting XI on a long-term basis.
While Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Isco are all shoe-ins to start most games for Real, that final spot in the side’s attacking quartet is very much up for grabs and Asensio, quite rightly, believes he has done enough over the last year to make that place his own and push Bale down the pecking order.
But regardless of who ends up dominating that role, one of the aforementioned pair will end up dissatisfied and potentially open to a move elsewhere – especially if Real bring in a big name next summer.
