Manchester United-linked Antoine Griezmann’s future at his current seems very uncertain after he was booed off the pitch by his own fans at the weekend.
The Atletico Madrid supporters showed their dissatisfaction with Griezmann’s recent performances and attitude on Saturday evening.
The Frenchman is enduring his longest goalscoring drought for some time at Atleti.
He was close to joining Man United last summer, claiming there was a 6/10 chance of him moving to Old Trafford. The transfer fell apart after FIFA upheld Atletico’s transfer ban. Griezmann signed a new contract at the club out of loyalty as they moved into their new stadium, the Wanda Metropolitano.
However, that new contract still contains the €100m release clause that United were eager to trigger last summer.
The Reds signed Everton’s Romelu Lukaku for an initial £75m instead, but remain interested in Griezmann.
Many Spanish football experts declared Saturday’s events, with Griezmann booed off, as a turning point in the Frenchman’s future at the club.
Antoine Griezmann booed off by a large section of Atletico fans. Club at this point, considering finances and future incomings, would not be overly reluctant to sell. €100m release clause next year.

Griezmann whistled off. He’s so done at Atleti it’s incredible.

Griezmann in “I regret renewing my contract and not leaving for England last summer” mode.

Griezmann is clearly not at his best for Atleti right now. Is he still worth €100m? If he can regain his previous form at United, yes, but do United need him with the talents of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford? Probably not, even though he’s a fantastic player.
