Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly decided to put his faith in Anthony Martial, making a huge u-turn on the club’s chase of Antoine Griezmann.
The young French star has apparently impressed the Portuguese manager so much that he’s willing to put an end to his interest in the player’s international teammate.
Talk of Griezmann has not cooled down since the summer and the Atletico Madrid man still occasionally flirts with the idea of moving to Old Trafford.
However, it appears that the versatile striker’s decision to remain loyal to his club in Spain has come back to haunt him as United are no longer interested in him.
Martial’s second season under Mourinho has been a productive and efficient one to say the least and it seems as though he’s done enough to convince his manager to not invest in another player.
According to the Independent, Jose has, perhaps uncharacteristically, decided to not splash the cash on Antoine and instead trust Anthony to continue delivering for the Red Devils.
It’s fair to say that the former AS Monaco player has come leaps and bounds since last season, overcoming personal problems that he recently admitted to.
His cold, composed finish vs Watford was proof of his quality and should he continue his great form then there’s no doubt he can become a regular for Manchester United and France.
Although he clearly has a preference for the striker position, it appears as though he’s satisfied with his left wing role, causing damage to opposition teams multiple times, even when coming off the bench.
