Henrikh Mkhitaryan has reportedly requested talks with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho over his future at the club.
The Armenian has been out of the side since the Reds were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea away from home at the start of November. He came on as a substitute against Brighton in a 1-0 win for his only appearance since.
Having started the season as one of the first names on the teamsheet under Mourinho, Mkhitaryan wasn’t even in the matchday squad for the Manchester derby.
Man United were beaten 2-1 by their rivals City, but Mkhitaryan’s absence was hardly worth mentioning, such has been the decrease in quality of his performances since the start of the season.
He led the assist charts in the Premier League at one point, shining in his second season under Mourinho, having signed for £30m from Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
The Daily Star suggest Mkhitaryan and his advisors will request talks with Mourinho over his future at Old Trafford.
He wouldn’t be the first attacking midfielder signed from Borussia Dortmund to ultimately fail at United, after Shinji Kagawa was sold for far less than what he was signed for under Louis van Gaal.
