Manchester United have been looked after by one of their former players according to a report that claims Mesut Ozil is considering joining the Red Devils.
Cristiano Ronaldo has nudged the Arsenal star into joining his former team rather than Spanish giants Barcelona.
According to reports, Ozil was initially thinking of signing for the Catalans when his contract ends in the summer.
Barcelona and all foreign clubs will be allowed to contact the German from January, before any English clubs are allowed, giving them a head start.
However, it appears as though Ronaldo has contacted Mesut to tell him to not consider the Spanish side as it would ruin his relationship with Real Madrid.
Both players shared time together at the Spanish capital and the Portuguese has warned his former teammate that Madrid fans won’t take the switch lightly.
According to Don Balon, Mesut Ozil is now edging closer to signing for the Red Devils instead after his discussion with Cristiano.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in the attacking midfielder and remains a fan of his from their days together at Real Madrid.
Mourinho is said to rate him highly and sees him as a talent too good to pass up on for free should he decide not to extend his contract with the Gunners.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s supposed fallout with Jose has also convinced the manager even more to chase after Ozil’s signature.
Reports claim that Mesut also has a good relationship with the Portuguese boss which may help in securing his transfer.
