Sheffield United interested in signing James Wilson on loan – report

Sheffield United will make attempts to complete a loan deal for James Wilson over the January transfer window, according to reports.

The 22-year-old, whose last appearance for Manchester United came in October 2015, saw his loan spell at Derby County last season cut short after just two months after suffering a cruciate injury.

He has been back at Man United ever since but noted back in October that he was open to joining another club on loan in January.

And according to the Daily Mail‘s Joe Bernstein, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, keen on bolstering his side’s attack in their bid to enter the playoff spots, has pin-pointed Wilson as an option over January and will look to sign him on loan.

Both Wilson and Will Keane have seen persistent injuries mire their first team chances at Old Trafford over the last few years, with the latter moving permanently to Hull City, and you can’t help but wonder whether Wilson – who enjoyed an encouraging flurry in the first team under Louis van Gaal – will fall victim to the same fate.

A loan move elsewhere in January seems like an obvious options and supporters will be keen to see whether he can recover from yet another long-term injury.
