Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain have begun talks regarding a potential deal for Lucas Moura, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho has been determined to secure another wide man after failing to capture Ivan Perisic in the summer and recently criticised the club’s board for failing to match Manchester City’s ambitiousness in the transfer market.
Sky Sports reported on Wednesday that Man United were indeed interested in Moura, who hasn’t made a start under Unai Emery this season, but had not made a formal approach.
But according to Goal‘s Kris Voakes, the two clubs have begun negotiations over a potential transfer fee, with the French league leaders willing to accept a bid within the region of around €40m.
Mourinho initially wanted to secure the Brazilian on loan but PSG, keen to meet FFP requirements, are determined to seal a permanent move away for a player who has fallen out of favour at the Parc des Princes and wants a move elsewhere to boost his chances of going to the World Cup.
He was a regular presence last season, making 56 appearances and claiming 18 goals, and will be hungry to reassert himself after a difficult few months. Many have been doubtful of his mercurial talent but he could prove to be a valuable presence in the final third during the second half of the season.
