Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he is aiming to return to his former club Anderlecht before he retires.
The Belgian started his career for his nation’s club averaging a goal a game which sparked the best in Europe to turn their attention to him.
Eventually it was Chelsea who won the race to sign him and fast forward a few years later and Lukaku found himself at United under Jose Mourinho.
The striker has talked about remaining at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future as he aims to win as many titles as possible.
However, it would appear that he doesn’t plan to retire at the club and wishes to return to Anderlecht before finishing off his career.
According to Metro, Romelu said: “My dream was always to play for Anderlecht. Before the end of my career I will definitely return, I can already promise that. I have had a wonderful time here.”
Romelu Lukaku has been harshly criticised for his time so far at Manchester United with the eyes of the world watching his every move.
For all the criticism he’s still managed to score 19 goals and assist his teammates six times across all competitions this season.
There’s certainly more to come from Lukaku but so far he has been the club’s top goalscorer and lead the line perfectly.
Some fans have bid the former Everton man to improve his movement in front of goal as he has a tendency to always go to the far post.
There’s no denying that Romelu has improved his hold-up and link-up play tenfold since moving to Old Trafford and there’s expectations he’ll improve further in his second season at the club.
