Andreas Pereira has posted a photo himself back in training on loan at Valencia after recovering from a thigh injury sustained against Barcelona last month.
The Brazilian, following an impressive loan spell with Granada last season, joined up with Los Che in September against his manager’s wishes on a season long deal.
And he has enjoyed another positive spell in Spain, making 21 appearances in total before a nasty tackle from Sergi Roberto at the Nou Camp last month left him on the sidelines.
But the 22-year-old is back in training ahead of Valencia’s clash with Real Betis on Sunday and has posted a picture of himself working hard.
Pereira has demonstrated during his time in Spain a capacity to perform at a high level on a week in, week out basis, but whether that will merit a place in Mourinho’s side in turn is another question entirely.
During pre-season the 55-year-old used Pereira as a midfielder, playing on the right hand side of a midfield trio with Paul Pogba alongside him, and with time this could prove to be a vocation that suits the Brazilian down to a tee.
But as Mourinho notably mentioned earlier this season, Pereira simply hasn’t played there at the Mestalla, featuring out wide on a rotational basis instead.
Needless to say, the chances of the youngster successfully competing for a spot out wide next season are slim, adding greater uncertainty to the future of a player many want to see given a run of games in the starting XI.
