According to reports Manchester United are set to negotiate a possible swap deal with Juventus that would involve Matteo Darmian and Alex Sandro switching sides.
The Italian team have had their eye on Jose Mourinho’s player all season long with rumours constantly swirling on a potential move.
It was also said that United were willing to allow Darmian to leave after he’s failed to impress the Portuguese manager so far.
However, it now seems as though Mourinho will attempt to use the Italian as a negotiating piece to turn his interest in Sandro into a real bid.
The Brazilian left-back represents the ideal signing for the Red Devils as they hope to refresh their defence with some new faces.
According to the Birmingham Mail, the Sunday Mirror report that a player-plus-cash deal instead may be in the works between the two clubs.
The likelihood of the deal appears to be on the low side of things as the Serie A side were trying to add depth to their squad rather than lose a key player.
While interest from Manchester United’s side is extremely possible, swapping Matteo for Alex seems like a downgrade for Max Allegri.
Should the transfer turn into a reality though it would be a truly inspiring signing by Jose, proving once more his excellent transfer skills.
United do have recent experience of swap deals under their belt with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alexis Sanchez swapping teams in the previous January transfer window.
Cash though, and perhaps a substantial amount, would certainly need to be involved in this transfer if it’s ever going to happen with Alex Sandro highly rated at Juventus.
