Paul Merson: Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United will blow West Brom away

Paul Merson has predicted Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United to blow away West Brom in today afternoon’s Premier League fixture.

The Portuguese manager will lead his players out at Old Trafford after managing to come away from the Etihad with all three points.

United looked set to lose as they were trailing 2-0 to Manchester City at the break but put together a remarkable comeback win that ended 3-2 in their favour.

The victory will surely have Mourinho’s men brimming with confidence as they take on the relegation threatened Baggies at Old Trafford.

Merson expects an easy win for the Red Devils as most fans do but the players will surely need to avoid any form of complacency to get the needed points.

According to the Sports Review, Paul said to Sky Sports: “What score do you want?! Man Utd don’t blow teams away but I think they will here.

“West Brom are all-but relegated, Man Utd have just beaten City away, I think Jose Mourinho surely has to let them off the leash here. When he does that they can play.

“I hope West Brom put on a show for Darren Moore because I think he has a chance of getting the job if they do well, but I can’t see them getting anything from this game.”

The past week has been one that has been the perfect example of what complacency can do with several top fixtures on show.

Barcelona failed to hold onto their 4-1 lead over Roma in the Champions League as the Italians secured an incredible 3-0 result at home to go through to the semi-finals on the away goal rule.

Real Madrid also almost saw themselves slip having held a 3-0 lead over Juventus and the Serie A side managed to score three of their own goals at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Former Manchester United man Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty at the death to save his side but the midweek fixtures provided the perfect lesson on complacency.

Jose Mourinho addressed the issue in his pre-match conference and will certainly have taken measures to ensure his side avoid it against West Brom.
