The Frenchman has only made two Premier League starts since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, and reports last week suggested he was considering a new challenge in the summer after growing exasperated with Jose Mourinho.
Juventus have emerged as favourites to sign him, while Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint Germain have also established interest in the 22-year-old.
And according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, Bayern have also located Martial as a potential option in the summer as they seek long term replacements for Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
The idea of selling Martial, just three seasons after he joined and set the world on fire immediately, feels simply inconceivable to United supporters, but it really could happen under Mourinho.
You get the sense that the boss does not trust Martial in similar fashion to how he has grown sceptical of the likes of Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera – among others – to deliver on a regular enough basis.
The frustrating thing for supporters is that Martial has demonstrated this season what he can do when given a run of games. He has been ‘Player of the Month’ three times this year, it should be noted. But that time on the pitch, at least this season, just doesn’t look likely in the slightest.
