Manchester United have beaten Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool to the signature of highly-rated Slovakian youngster Martin Svidersky.
Svidersky will officially start at United, one of up to six clubs thought to want the 15-year-old starlet, ahead of the 2018-19 season and he is expected to boost Kieran McKenna’s promising U-18 squad.
Previously of 1. FC Tatran Presov’s youth set-up, Svidersky has signed a three-year deal and is the latest recruitment in the drive occurring in United’s academy since Nicky Butt’s appointment as academy chief.
The youngster should have no problem settling in a new country, considering English is one of five languages he can already speak – on top of German, French, Greek and, of course, Slovakian.
It’s known that Svidersky wasn’t short of offers before he decided to head to United and he has already had trials at top clubs in Europe including Borussia Dortmund, Celtic, Chelsea, Inter Milan Liverpool and newly-crowned Premier League champions Manchester City over the past couple of seasons.
The teenager took to Instagram to express his delight, saying: “A day I will never forget. Delighted to sign my first contract with Manchester United. I would like to thank my family, friends but especially God for big support. Many more things to come in future.” He added: “A dream come true.”
