There are no doubts that Rooney absolutely despises the kind of football Allardyce represents. This is a striker, a captain, who has always played with his heart, surging in only one direction and berating those who don’t follow him.

Returning to Everton was always a dream for Rooney, but the fact that Allardyce is staying on at Goodison Park for another season makes this an easy decision for him.
