Manchester United are stepping up their pursuit of Juventus left-back Alex Sandro and could announce his arrival soon after the FA Cup final, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho is intent on adding to his options at left-back over the summer and has identified Sandro as a player he wants Man United to chase in the summer, noting recently that he wanted to add a Brazilian to his team.
The club have also registered interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose, Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, and Napoli’s Faozi Ghoulam, but Sandro appears to be the primary candidate.
And according to the Mail‘s George Flood, Sandro has asked Juventus chiefs to push through a move to Old Trafford and the deal could be done in the window between the FA Cup final and World Cup commencing in June.
Expect a glut of deals to go through in this period. A number of players, including Antoine Griezmann and Samuel Umtiti, have stated a desire to have their futures sorted ahead of the finals. And Sandro, part of a Brazil squad heavily tipped to win the World Cup, will most likely want similar assurances.
And United, in turn, need to act fast: bringing in a mobile, combative left-back should be the first port of call this summer.
