Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are reportedly set to start Manchester United’s FA Cup final clash against Chelsea with Jose Mourinho apparently trusting the pair to do their jobs in perhaps the club’s most anticipated match of the season.
The Portuguese manager will select his last starting XI of the season against his former club knowing fully well that anything short of a win will see him gain even more criticism.
Mourinho won the Carabao Cup and Europa League in his first season with United and can finish the current campaign with another trophy in the bag.
However, it’s the Premier League title that supporters crave the most and so next season will surely be a defining one for him.
Jose has all his centre-backs available to him which is pretty rare but it’s the good kind of headache for him to have.

Whether Jones and Smalling are the correct pairing will only be decided based on the result but on paper the two defenders aren’t necessarily the Red Devils best options.
Many consider Eric Bailly to be the club’s top defender and the second best centre-back is a debate between the former Blackburn Rovers man and Marcos Rojo.
