Atletico Madrid chief Gil Marin has warned Antoine Griezmann over leaving the club though he admits it’s down to the player to choose his future.
The Frenchman has long been linked with a move to Manchester United and even reportedly came close before the Spanish club were banned from conducting any inward transfers.
Griezmann’s loyalty to Madrid is admirable though it could leave him without the chance to leave as Jose Mourinho secured Romelu Lukaku’s transfer instead.
Barcelona are said to be interested in the versatile attacker still with United also reportedly keeping an eye on him just in case anything develops.
Either way Marin is adamant that a move away from Atletico would be the worst thing Antoine could do for his footballing career.
According to Team Talk, Gil said on Cadena SER: “It’s down to his feelings, not those of his family or his entourage.
“It’s him who must decide whether he wants to make history at Atletico Madrid where everything revolves around him, or go to a club where he will never make history.
“He is human and we must respect his decision.”
Mourinho has insisted that he’s happy with all his attacking options with the Red Devils and will instead focus on signing midfielders and defenders this upcoming transfer window.
However, should something unexpected happen then it could see a move for Antoine Griezmann still transpire such as Anthony Martial actually leaving the club.
Juventus have been interested in the youngster for months now despite Manchester United reportedly not willing to let him leave but it could all change quickly during the summer.
