From Italy: Manchester United yet to make formal offer for Alex Sandro

Manchester United are yet to make a formal offer for Juventus Alex Sandro this summer, according to reports from Italy.

Jose Mourinho has placed emphasis on adding reinforcements at left-back this summer having relied on Ashley Young to fill that role for the majority of the 2017/18 campaign.

The 55-year-old views Sandro, who has impressed since joining Juventus in 2015, as his main target in that role, with Danny Rose, Ryan Sessegnon and Faozi Ghoulam mentioned as other options.

But according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, no formal offer for Sandro has been made by Man United, who have, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, wrapped up the transfer of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk for £44m on Thursday.

Out of nowhere, United’s transfer window has exploded. Fred looks like a done deal, while deals involving Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Mario Mandzukic, Toby Alderweireld, Matteo Darmian and Marouane Fellaini are all evolving in one way or another.

Talk around Sandro, on the other hand, has gone decidedly quiet.

But this is just how the transfer window can be. Explosions and radio silence often come hand in hand. What we do know regarding Sandro, however, is that United have chosen him as the preferred candidate at left-back and the Brazilian is open to leaving Juventus.
