Manchester United target Samuel Umtiti has made it clear he wants to remain at Barcelona amid a contract dispute with the club.
The Frenchman’s contract at the Nou Camp lasts until 2021 but his £54m release clause has prompted interest from Man United and a series of other clubs.
Barcelona have been negotiating with Umiti’s entourage over a new deal but are reluctant to meet the Frenchman’s wage demands.
But Umtiti, speaking earlier this week, has once again insisted that his priority was to remain at Barcelona at all costs.
“I’m at a club that allowed me to realise my dream of playing there,” he said.
“I’m still under contract at the moment. So for me to leave, either they throw me out the door or I decide to leave.”
Barcelona are indeed confident of keeping Umtiti, who has been consistent in stating he wants to stay with the La Liga champions.
Negotiations continue to rumble on, but reports suggest that Catalan chiefs are confident of warding off interest from United and Jose Mourinho, who has turned his attention instead towards Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld.
