The left-back has endured another difficult season under Jose Mourinho, making only four starts since the turn of the year, and received another bout of scathing public criticism from his manager following a 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion in March.
His continued lack of opportunities under Mourinho, combined with the fact that Man United will sign a left-back this summer, has led to many assuming he would look for the exit door this summer.
But according to the Mail Online‘s Simon Jones, Shaw is determined to remain at Old Trafford and once again fight for his place under the Portuguese.
All it would take, you sense, is a run of games – a bit of love and a bit of faith in his abilities – at a new club for Shaw to find the groove which he has failed to achieve in almost four years at United. It just won’t happen under Mourinho.
At the same time, however, Shaw deserves praise for choosing to stick it out and fight. Fates can change very quickly in football, and the Englishman clearly has faith in his ability to eventually breach the first team and make that left back slot his own.
