Jesse Lingard quashes reports and reaffirms comfort at Manchester United

Jesse Lingard has been quick to kill all rumours suggesting he’s not comfortable with life at Manchester United following “misquoted” reports this week.

On Wednesday, it was reported that Lingard had stated he “felt more comfortable playing for England than Manchester United,” in regards to the pressure that comes with playing for each team.

However, many took his quotes the wrong way and were quick to make a story about his discontent at boyhood club United, which he has now clarified.

Speaking ahead of England’s first of two World Cup warm-up games against Nigeria at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, Lingard insisted: “It’s all misquoted. I’m playing regularly in the England team and I feel comfortable.

“Jose has given me opportunities to play week in week out at Manchester United and it’s up to me to deliver performances. I’m as comfortable as United as I am with England.”

Lingard also took to social media on Thursday to say similar things, posting on his Instagram story an image of him celebrating at Old Trafford with the caption “more than comfortable.”

The 25-year-old enjoyed his best season as a professional yet in 2017-18, scoring 13 goals and assisting seven in all competitions, and was the third most voted player for Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year by the fans.

He’s also set to play an important role with England in Russia this summer, either on the wing or in the ‘no. 10 role’ he’s thrived in at club level.
