Manchester United star Paul Pogba has admitted that he hasn’t necessarily held talks with Jose Mourinho about being dropped from the first team.
The two were reported by the press to be at each others necks with the Frenchman even tipped to leave the club.
Pogba since clarified that the rumours were simply not true but it’s clear the two have a strictly professional relationship too.
The flair midfielder was dropped by Mourinho after failing to impress following his return from injury.
The Portuguese manager blamed his inconsistencies but eventually started him more often towards the end of the season.
According to the Sport Review, Paul said to France Football: “I am not the coach. You will have to see with him. He made his choices.
“Have I had talks with him? Not necessarily. He took me off, like that. Like I said, I do my job he does his.”
It’s good to see the pair don’t have any real issues so it won’t escalate into a scenario where either one has to leave.
United fans would perhaps opt to keep Paul Pogba over Jose but that’s a different debate entirely for another day.
The only concern is that they don’t really seem to see eye to eye and appear to keep the relationship on professional terms only.
There’s certainly the argument to be made that Pogba would enjoy playing under another manager but until then, he’ll have to make do.
