Manchester United are reportedly hoping to sign Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld within days as they attempt to keep up their summer spending spree.
Jose Mourinho has managed to lure in Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred and Porto’s Diogo Dalot so far but is still in the hunt for a top quality, experienced centre-back.
That’s where Alderweireld comes in despite not featuring for the London club often last season due to injury.
United and Spurs were said to have reached a stalemate with neither club willing to budge on their evaluation.
Mourinho believes the Belgian is worth £50m while Daniel Levy is hoping for around £75m but the urgency from the Portuguese manager is still there.
According to the Faithful MUFC, the Sun report that Jose is trying to sign Toby within the next 48 hours before the World Cup begins on Thursday.
The former Real Madrid manager is understood to be keen on wrapping up any transfer deals ahead of the highly anticipated competition due to how difficult it is to sign players when matches begin.
The Red Devils will also have to deal with a shorter than usual transfer window due to the Premier League’s new rules that will be enforced this summer.
