Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has tipped Paul Pogba to make the Antoine Griezmann transfer happen this summer.
The Atletico Madrid star has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since last summer and even appeared close to completing a deal.
Unfortunately with the club’s transfer ban, Griezmann decided to remain loyal and stayed in Spain for the season.
With the transfer ban lifted, his move to United could finally be on though Jose Mourinho has signed Alexis Sanchez as his marquee signing instead.
Yorke though believes that Pogba can convince Antoine to switch sides rather than joining any of the other interested clubs such as Barcelona.
According to the Daily Star, Dwight said to 888sport: “When you’re a big club you always have a chance and when you have friends of the player around the national team there is a way of selling the club.
“I’m sure it helps to have Pogba in there and that might be a turning point in making things happen and getting the deal done.
“Hopefully that will be the case. Greizmann has been in Spain for a long time while United are looking to improve.”
The pair will spend a month together on international duty with France, depending on of course how far the nation goes in the World Cup.
Footballers of course endorse each other’s clubs when they want a fellow international teammate to join as it’s happened before.
Paul certainly can be an influence in Griezmann’s decision but it all depends on whether the Red Devils’ interest is still genuine.
Mourinho’s move for Sanchez in the January transfer window almost certainly means the versatile attacker is no longer on the shortlist of candidates to sign this summer.
