Manchester United target and Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld has offered Jose Mourinho a huge transfer blow with his recent comments.
The Belgian is reported to be on the Portuguese manager’s transfer list and is thought highly of as he’s the top priority at the moment.
Unfortunately United and Spurs can’t see eye to eye on his valuation and so negotiations have stalled but the defender himself has offered little hope for it all.
Mourinho’s desire to sign a top quality centre-back is not a secret and though he has other transfers, it’s said he wants Alderweireld more than anyone else.
The Red Devils value the 29 year old at £50m while the London club believe he’s worth around the same figure as Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk which is £75m.
According to Tottenham Blog, Toby said to Sky Sports: “Yeah [I could stay at Tottenham], why not? I have two years left on my contract. I don’t know what is going to happen.”
Alderweireld’s admittance to not knowing what’s going to happen is in a way good for Manchester United as it doesn’t entirely rule out a transfer.
However, if he hopes to secure a transfer to Old Trafford he must do more in order to force through a move.
Mourinho was seen on live television telling Gareth Bale off for not talking about his desire to move enough for the former Real Madrid manager to make a transfer happen.
