Manchester United are reportedly set to discuss the futures of several players with Juventus next week, with both incomings and outgoings in mind.
With all of the World Cup hype currently flowing through the football universe it’s easy to forget that clubs continue to prepare for the 2018-19 season by adding to, and trimming, their squads.
Man United have already been active in the transfer window, completing deals worth in excess of £50m for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred and £19m for promising FC Porto right-back Diogo Dalot.
Italian outlet Calciomercato report that Juventus will be the next club United look to do business with and are interested in a few of the Serie A champions’ stars – and vice versa.
They claim that United will enquire about striker Mario Mandzukic, although it’s expected he’ll stay at the club, and are also looking to bolster their squad with both Sami Khedira and Alex Sandro.
Jose Mourinho is said to be targeting a new centre-back, left-back and back-up striker to Romelu Lukaku, and Mandzukic and Sandro have already been mentioned as targets this summer, but Khedira is a surprise name.
Calciomercato add that a fee is close to being agreed between the two clubs for Matteo Darmian, with United wanting €20m for the full-back and Juventus’ latest offer being €13m.
Anthony Martial also interests the Turin club after his agent confirmed his wish to leave Old Trafford earlier this week and are set to ask about the 22-year-old forward’s availability.
The relationship between both Juventus and United’s representatives is thought to be a positive one following the successful world record transfer of Paul Pogba in 2016, and it would be surprising if at least one bit of business wasn’t done between them before the window slams shut in August.
