Real Madrid star Raphael Varane has supported his international teammate and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba following the criticism received from the media.
The former Juventus man has been the talk of the town following his match winning performance vs Australia in France’s World Cup opening game but it wasn’t for all the right reasons.
Pogba was still attacked despite officially winning the man of the match award and saving a dire French side the embarrassment of not beating their opponents.
Varane has spoken out against the criticism the talented midfielder receives but has also insisted that it doesn’t really phase him as he’s just a positive person.
Paul hasn’t only been criticised for his performances on the international stage but also at club level with even some United fans calling on him to do better.
According to the Daily Star, Raphael said: “A lot of negativity is said [about Pogba], it’s a reality. We all seek to retain the positivity.
“Often, we talk about more negative things [in press conferences]. But he is not resentful, he remains positive anyway. If you [the media] could be a little more positive, it would be cool.”
There’s often a lot of debate about how to get the best out of Pogba and whether he’s responsible for his own form or not but the one thing that’s not debated is his obvious talent.
Some believe he’s clearly best in a three man midfield where he can express himself more freely while others feel he should perform regardless of the tactics being used.
