Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has backed his former club’s interest in Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, believing they’re attempting to sign the right kind of player.
The versatile attacker is reportedly one of Jose Mourinho’s most wanted signings but the more the summer goes on the less likely it all appears to happen.
Bale himself threw his own future up in the air after admitting that he wants to be playing week in and week out following his brace in the Champions League final.
However, it now seems as though it was just a threat to Madrid to play him more often and with Zinedine Zidane departing, he could still get his wish.
Giggs knows exactly just what Gareth brings to the side as he’s now the Wales senior team manager but he makes a pretty strong case as to why the transfer won’t happen.
According to Stretty News, Ryan said to South Morning China Post: “I’d be a happy United fan, that’s for sure. I think he’s a Man United player. I think the fans would love him.
“The fans would adore him but again, like I say, he’s at a club where he’s won three Champions Leagues so why would you leave?”
The Red Devils have also already spent a sizeable chunk of money on Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred and Porto’s Diogo Dalot so it appears unlikely they’ll blow the required £150m and more to sign Bale.
It would stop Mourinho from investing in some more urgently required positions such as the central midfield or defensive positions.
