Former Manchester United academy coach Clayton Blackmore has made supporters excited over the prospect of youth talent Mason Greenwood with recent comments.
Greenwood was Man United under-18’s top goalscorer last season, netting 16 goals and assisting four times in 18 games, which has caught the eye of many and earned himself the reputation as the club’s new ‘wonderkid’.
The main thing most supporters have been very impressed with is the fact that Greenwood is still 16 years old and has notched up such a respectable tally against defenders a couple of years older than him.
Fomrer United academy coach Blackmore has spoken about the forward’s talent though, telling the Manchester Evening News: “We don’t know how good he is going to get. He’s still growing.
“He’s great on the ball and very good with both feet. He’s the first person I’ve seen that takes penalties and free-kicks with his wrong foot. I’ve never come across anyone like that! He’s got a great chance.”
United included Greenwood in a list of 11 new academy scholars ahead of the 2018-19 season which included ex-United defender Phil Neville’s son Harvey, who has impressed for a few years at Spanish club Valencia.
It’s exciting to see how far Greenwood can go at United, but he’s certainly doing all of the right things at the moment.
